Health and Social Assistance

Our activities in this area are grouped under two main projects: the "Children Without Borders" project and the “Mario Bedussi” project. The former was created with the specific purpose of offering health and social assistance to children in need and their families, both within a national and an international context. The latter, on the other hand, was created with a focus on coordinating efforts with other no-profit organizations that share our same  assistance purpose. The following list highlights the wide scope of our activities within this area.

  • 2019: Covered the expenses for a further rehabilitation treatment for the same child whose treatment was financed in 2018. This was once again the result of a collaboration with the "Elice Onlus" Association.
  • 2018: Covered the expenses for a specialized rehabilitation treatment for a child suffering from mental retardation and Down Syndrome. This treatment has the specific objective of improving verbal communication and reading abilities. This initiative was the result of a collaboration with the "Elice Onlus" Association.
  • 2017: Covered the hospitalization expenses related to the surgical operation of a Moldavian child suffering from a serious congenital malformation of the trachea and esophagus.
  • 2017: Covered the hospitalization expenses for a child hailing from Sierra Leone who was in need of a surgical intervention for the positioning of a cannula necessary for external feeding.
  • 2017: Participated in a funding effort whose aim was to support educational projects for eight boys suffering from Down syndrome.
  • 2016: Covered the expenses related to the orthodontic care received by a child affected by Down syndrome.
  • 2016: Covered the expenses related to educational and rehabilitation treatments received by two children suffering from physical disabilities.
  • 2015: Covered the expenses related to the psychomotor therapy received by three children suffering from physical disabilities.
  • 2014: Covered the expenses related to the psychomotor therapy received by three children suffering from physical disabilities.
  • 2014: Covered the travelling expenses for Prof. Alberto Peña to operate a child suffering from a very serious anorectal malformation within the IRCCS Ca’ Granda Foundation.
  • 2013: Covered the travelling expenses for Prof. Steven Rothemberg of Denver’s Colorado Children’s Hospital to come to Milan. Here, he carried out two surgical pulmonary procedures and a closure of the Bocallo Duct (a rare cardiac pathology) on a newborn.
  • 2013: Covered dental care expenses for two children.
  • 2013: Covered the expenses for the psycho-motor care received by an infant.
  • 2012: Covered the dental care expenses needed for dental reconstruction by a girl, part of a numerous family, whose father was unemployed at the time when such care was needed.
  • 2012: Organized and sponsored Prof. Richard Azizkhan’s trip to Milan. Prof. Azizkhan’s expertise was needed for the operation of a young baby suffering from a rare facial malformation.
  • 2012: Offered logistic assistance to an Italian family whose son suffers from serious problems of sight, movement and epilepsy, and who needed particular care in a specialized rehabilitation center.
  • 2012: Partially covered the accommodation expenses for a baby girl who needed intensive treatment in a rehabilitation center, and whose family was facing financial hardships.   
  • 2012: Provided corneal lenses to a girl who underwent a kidney transplant in 2008.
  • 2012: Covered the accommodation expenses for a family from Campania, who came to Milan seeking assistance for a pair of twins born from a complicated monochorionic pregnancy.
  • 2012: Covered the expenses related to the care received in a specialized center by a baby suffering from Down syndrome, whose family was facing financial hardships.
  • 2012: Covered the expenses for the continuation of the care received by a baby suffering from Down syndrome whose family faced tough social conditions.
  • 2012: Covered the expenses for the psycho-motor therapy needed by a baby suffering from Down syndrome and a serious psycho-motor pathology.
  • 2012: Covered the dental care expenses for a baby whose family was facing harsh social conditions.
  • 2011: Covered the accommodation expenses for an Italian family so as to make it possible for them to go through a complicated twin monochorionic pregnancy. Care was provided by the Operative Unit of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Vittore Buzzi Hospital.
  • 2011: Covered Professor Richard Azizkhan’s travelling expenses as he came to Italy to carry out an operation on a child hospitalized at the Operative Unit of Pediatric Surgery headed by Dr. Torricelli. Prof. Azizkhan is world-leading expert in vascular malformations of the oral cavity, and this particular case called for his expertise.
  • 2010: Offered logistic assistance to three Italian families, who received care in the Policlinic’s Hospital Fetal Medicine Clinic under the direction of Dr. Maria Angela Rustico.
  • 2010: Offered assistance to a Moroccan family, staying in Italy, whose son suffered from a serious muscular dystrophy due to a rare genetic defect.
